The main difference between the two disciplines is that a chiropractor traditionally uses manipulation techniques in the form of
adjusting the joints of your spine and limbs where signs of restricted movement are found, where a physiotherapist will more commonly use mobilization techniques in the form of manual manipulation, IMS, Shockwave, electrical therapy, etc.
On their own, physiotherapy and chiropractic care are both effective treatment approaches for a variety of ailments. However patients with more challenging or complex injuries have found significant improvement to their recovery having combined both approaches. Chiropractic treatments will have realigned the spine and limbs having unlocked the joints and points of resistance. This puts your form back into the perfect position to then mobilize the muscles surround the joints to release tension and pain and keep them from refreezing, locking up or re-stiffening.
